Competencies HR professional must be exposed to - Part II

In continuation to the series on “Competencies HR professional should be exposed to”, I am sharing thoughts on some more competencies required to have an edge–

Leadership Skills - the capacity to establish direction and to influence and align others toward a common goal, motivating and committing them to action and making them responsible for their performance. In essence, getting the things done that you want to get done because other want to do it.
Team Handling - defines goals / objectives clearly, Motivates subordinates to set and maintain high / stretched performance standards. Empowers subordinates. Spots opportunities and utilizes them. Does not shirk from handling unpleasant situations; handles them competently. Helps subordinates in identifying and implementing plans and objectives.

Presentation Skills – makes oral presentations to others, one-on-one or group, which are clear, precise and convincing. Uses appropriate language; summarizes and re-states key points. Presents data to others, with graphs, charts, statistics or other appropriate visual aids.

Analytical Skills – demonstrate the ability to apply analytical and logical thinking to gathering and analyzing information, designing and testing solutions to problems, and formulating plans.

Trust and Transparency - is widely trusted; is seen as a direct truthful individual; can present the unvarnished truth in an appropiate and helpful manner; keeps confidences; doesn’t blame others for his/her mistake;. Treats subordinates equitably; does not play favorites; acts fairly; invites open dialogue and candid discussion; meet commitments.

Accountability - makes a conscious choice to take ownership of outcomes and influence results; will stand up and be counted; looks forward to take charge of a problem.

Performance Management - performance management is building on the process of assessing progress toward achieving predetermined goals, adding the relevant communication and action on the progress achieved against these predetermined goals.
Strategic Leadership - creates and communicates a compelling and inspired vision or sense of core purpose; sees beyond today; is optimistic; can inspire and motivate entire unit or organization; is charismatic. Managing Chaos with positivity- finds complex and challenging situations energizing and gets others enthused and focused on the core issues in complex situations. Has very high frustration resistance.
Risk Management - the process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the activities of an organization in order to minimize the effects of risk on an organization's capital and earnings. It also includes audit and compliance with the laws of the land.
