Having touched upon Type of Questions in my previous post, Now let us look at what constitutes Good interview questions and how do we go about asking them. Below are few questions that will give you a fair sense of Good / Not so Good Interview questions :
• Asking anything that starts with “what factored into your decision to ……” This will help you get a sense for how the candidate organizes their thoughts and how they analyze issues. Avoid phrasing questions with “why” it puts people on the defensive.
• What did you like best about (name the deal/job/activity)? Positive questions early in the interview help the candidate to loosen up a bit.
• What two or three professional accomplishments have given you the most satisfaction? Another positive question that may help you learn about their motivation.
• What did you learn from (name the experience)? You can begin to get a sense of their values
• If you could change any decision you’ve made, what would it be? This is one of those questions that usually elicit personal information, which can help you in deciding if there is a “fit”.
